Zaven is a French filmmaker, illustrator and art director from the Armenian diaspora of Syria and Lebanon. His work explores themes of memory, exile and the impact of conflict on civilian lives.
He directed the short film Un Obus Partout, adapted from L’École de la guerre by Alexandre Najjar, before becoming art director on the animated feature The Siren, directed by Sepideh Farsi, which portrays the life of a civilian community during the siege of Abadan in the 1980s.
He recently directed the animated feature film Allah Is Not Obliged, adapted from the novel by Ahmadou Kourouma and produced by Sébastien Onomo.
